Sensory Integration

The sensory integration approach is rich in vestibular, proprioceptive, visual, auditory, olfactory and tactile inputs; areas where many children have deficits. The approach seeks to encourage the nervous system to process and integrate sensory input in organized and meaningful ways, which will ultimately enhance the ability of the nervous system to function more adequately. Each adaptive response, as it provides feedback into the nervous system, encourages maturation and organization of the nervous system at increasingly higher levels. Ultimately the individual is able to interact with his/her environment in more successful and adaptive manners.

Interactive Metronome

The is an assessment and treatment tool used in therapy to improve the neurological processes of motor planning, sequencing and processing. This in turn will improve motor skills and many cognitive abilities such as planning, organizing and language. The IM program has developed specific hand and foot exercises that require the client to synchronize the exercise with computer-generated tone heard through headphones.
Over the course of the treatment, patients learn to:
· Focus and attend for longer periods of time
· Increase physical endurance and stamina
· Filter out internal and external distractions
· Improve ability to monitor mental and physical actions as they are occurring
· Progressively improve coordinated performance.

Neuro-Developmental Treatment

Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT) is a problem-solving treatment approach for individuals with neuropathology. Misalignment in posture and poor movement patterns lead to limitations in functional activities. NDT Trained physical therapists (PT), occupational therapists (OT), and speech and language pathologists (SLP) address these impairments through the use of the sensorimotor system while working on functional activities.

Kinesio Taping®

The Kinesio Taping® Method enhances the body’s natural healing process and provides support through the muscles. KTM allows for full range of motion. It does not negatively affect circulation, since there is no wrapping, and therefore no impediment of blood flow. KTM is a “light” modality. In rehabilitative applications it works continuously, so each treatment can continue for 2 to 3 days. KTM is like having healing hands to put on the area 24-7. This technique has three important concepts. They are Space, Movement and Cooling. Muscles that are painful and/or inflamed lack space. When the KTM technique is applied to create space, it is helpful in and of itself, but also leads to the opportunity for improved movement and circulation. KidzSpot has several trained therapists to assist your child with this effective technique.

Cranial Sacral Therapy

Cranial Sacral Therapy (CST) was pioneered and developed by an osteopathic physician, John E. Upledger. CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the function of the craniosacral system, which is comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.

Infant Massage

Parent-Infant Massage is a positive time between the caregiver and an infant using systematic manual manipulation of soft tissues of the body. The therapeutic purposes may include promoting circulation of the blood and lymphatic systems, relaxation of muscles, relief of pain, restoration of metabolic balance and spending quality one-on-one time with your baby. Classes or individualized sessions are taught by Certified Infant Massage Instructors (CIMI) and are designed to teach parents, grandparents, and/or primary caregivers how to complete baby massage. KidzSpot therapists are capable with assisting with any special needs of infants and children including colic, prematurity, hemiplegia, intestinal difficulties or other unique disabilities.

Sound Therapy

Therapeutic Listening® is an evidence-backed protocol that combines a sound-based intervention with sensory integrative activities to create a comprehensive program that is effective for diverse populations with sensory challenges. Therapeutic Listening can impact sensory modulation, attention, behavior, coordination, postural control, and speech and language difficulties. KidzScpot therapists use modulated CDs and set up individualized programs for clients.

Supervised Listening is used to treat life challenges, issues, developmental delays and abnormalities that require the knowledge of an experienced professional. The Auditory system is connected with multiple organs and functions of the bodymind system. Consequently, a well trained auditory system is improving skills and performance of the human system. Changes in development, life quality, and academic performance are to be expected.
